With a passion for excellence and a discerning eye for beauty, Hiran Cooray has set a new benchmark in the  hospitality industry.

Hailed as one of the most celebrated hoteliers in Sri Lanka, Cooray took over as Managing Director of Jetwing Hotels in 1987, and has since cultured a reputation for creating specialist boutique hotels catering to a growing clientele. As a result, the Jetwing brand has become synonymous with the finest hotel properties in the country. The nature-loving professional has been actively involved in the repositioning of Sri Lanka Tourism. In doing so, he has driven Jetwing Hotels to attain higher overall standards and develop an innate understanding of the discriminating visitor. The highly regarded and environmentally-friendly properties of Jetwing Vil Uyana and Jetwing Kurulubedda are a result of this single-minded predisposition. 

While the new ventures Hiran is spearheading in Cambodia and Laos, are testament to his determination to take this expertise into the region. It was therefore no surprise when Cooray was invited to serve on the Board of the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority. 

He also serves on the Board of The Small Luxury Hotels of the World and is the Chairman for 2010/12 of PATA International. In fact, he has served PATA since 1996 and received several awards for his outstanding work. An Immediate Past President of the Tourist Hotels Association of Sri Lanka (THASL), Hiran was also conferred the title of Sri Lanka Sikhamani for his contribution to Sri Lankan Tourism. 

Cooray is also Chairman of a very significant sustainable tourism initiative; the Responsible Tourism Partnership of Sri Lanka. RTP works towards developing and implementing practical sustainable tourism solutions, and has inaugurated several flagship projects in the island. To all these distinguished roles, the married father-of-three brings with him a fire and commitment widely recognised by industry members both in Sri Lanka and the region.
