Ashanthi Pereira Mathai grew up in Sri Lanka and has spent most of her career as a management consultant in the healthcare industry. Most recently, she worked in the business analysis and marketing functions at Otsuka America Pharmaceutical, Inc. in Rockville, MD. Prior to that, she was an Engagement Manager at the Advisory Board Company in Washington, DC and was part of the core team which launched their Medical Technology Services practice to serve medical device clients. She held a project leadership role in the Advisory Board Company's Academies division which provides leadership development and training to physician leaders and hospital executives at more than 900 hospitals and health systems. She has also authored or contributed to several research studies in the Oncology and Cardiac Roundtable programs.
Prior to that, Ms. Mathai spent several years at Quattro Consulting, Inc., a boutique strategy consulting firm focused exclusively on serving medical device manufacturers. She has assisted both large and small medical technology companies on strategic decisions related to new product planning, product development and positioning, joint venture assessments, and cost effectiveness analyses. She also worked at LifeScan, Inc., a Johnson & Johnson company, and developed their product strategy for the emerging artificial pancreas market.
Ms. Mathai holds a Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering (summa cum laude) and Creative Writing from Princeton University and a Master's degree in Chemical Engineering from Stanford University. She received her MBA from Stanford's Graduate School of Business with certificates in Public Management, Global Management, and Product Creation & Innovative Manufacturing. She currently resides in Colombo with her husband and two sons. Ashanthi is the author of a book of poetry and in her spare time enjoys racquetball, tennis, hiking, and playing guitar.
